One of the main concerns of mothers is the low weight of their baby or toddler.
The truth is that if a baby is healthy and develops properly,
then there is nothing to be worried about.
But if you’re concerned that your child is underweight, then certain foods can promote weight-gain.
The key is to provide high calorie foods that are nutritious too.
Check out these eight main foods to promote weight gain in babies.

1,Breast Milk, Formula or Whole Milk
Breast milk and formula offer a great deal of nutritional benefits for your baby.
Babies and toddlers need a good amount of fat in their diets,
and increasing intake from healthy milk or formula sources may promote weight gain.
Whole cream milk can certainly help your baby gain weight.
Whole milk is packed with calcium and is full of calories.
If your baby is over a year old, give baby a glass of full fat milk every morning.

2,Whole Cream Yogurt
Whole cream yogurt is a good weight-gain food too.
Do not feed your child flavoured fruit yogurt as it is loaded with sugar.
Blend some fruits into the yoghurt for a wholesome smoothie for your child.

3,Bananas

Banana can be given to babies after 6 months of age.
They are a great source of dietary fibre, potassium, and Vitamins C and B6.
Bananas offer energy and are nutrient-dense. Introduce bananas as a puree initially.
After eight months, you can serve them plain, or add them to porridges and milkshakes.

4,Ragi

Ragi also known as finger millet, is one of the best foods for weight gain in children.
This grain is rich in dietary fibre, protein, and Vitamins B1, B2 and B6.

Ragi can be given as ragi porridge, kheer, or roti.

5,Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is an excellent food for weight gain.
If your baby is over a year old, you can spread a teaspoon
of peanut butter on a piece of bread and give it to Babies.

6,Eggs You can give eggs to your child after eight months of age.
Initially, you should just feed your baby the yolk.
Egg whites can be introduced later as the proteins in it are known to cause allergies.
Egg whites are a great source of protein, and egg yolks
are full of zinc and Vitamins A, D, E and B12.

7,Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes can be given to babies after six months of age.
Sweet potatoes are low in saturated fat, high in dietary fibre,
and are a rich source of magnesium, potassium, Vitamins A, B6 and C.
Prepare sweet potatoes as puree, khichdi, or soup.

8,Avocados
You can feed your baby avocadoes after six months of age.
Avocados are rich in dietary fibre and healthy fats.
Avocados can first be served as a puree, and after one year,
you can add them to milkshakes and smoothies.
