Ever is almost 6 months old so he is ready to have his very first solid food! This is how I made his very first baby food for him. Like I said in the video, this is not necessarily the first foods he will be eating, but the first food I made for him :)

They recommend that babies start solids between 4-6 months, but every baby is different.

Some Tips:

Do not add any sugar, salt or honey to the baby food. Salt can strain kidneys and cause dehydration; sugar and honey encourage a sweet tooth and the latter carries a slight risk of botulism infection.

Test the temperature of all food. If using defrosted food, reheat until piping and let cool before offering it.

Do not reheat food more than once. Use a small quantity and leave the rest refrigerated.

Use only formula, breast milk, or cooled boiled tap water (or filtered) water to make purees.

Do not save your baby’s half-eaten food, since bacteria-carrying saliva from the spoon will have been introduced.

*Some ideal first foods:

apple
pear
papaya
banana
avocado
broccoli
carrot
peas
potato
sweet potato
squash or
pumpkin
