Apple and Carrot Soup with Potatoes

This is a slightly more “gourmet” soup. Rich in energy and vitamin a, this soup is a “solid” meal which will make baby feel satisfied. You will notice that she won’t be hungry very quickly after she has “dined” on this one. As your baby approaches the 6th month, you can start adding ingredients like onions that have a strong flavour to improve the taste. You can add a dash of salt and pepper to this soup after your baby is 6 months old.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes 1 cups

1/4 cup peeled and chopped apple
2 tbsp peeled and chopped carrot
1/4 cup peeled and chopped potatoes
1 tbsp finely chopped onions
1 tsp oil
salt to taste

1. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
2. Add the carrot, potato and apple and 1 cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
4. Cool slightly, blend in a mixer to a smooth purée and strain using a strainer.
5. Pour the purée into a non-stick pan. Add the salt, mix well and bring to boil.
Serve lukewarm.

thanks for posting this wonderful recipe. I used to give my baby readymade
food available in woolworths. but this looks more healthy than the market
food.
i tried this racipe and my 8 months old baby loved it. i have not given him
carrot and onions prior to this soup but i have tried apple n potato but he
likes a lot. I want to ask you that why did you add salt in the end ? can i
add salt in cooker itself before whistle? by doing like this way it will
save my time :)

Nate Cantalupo says:

Oooh this is yummy! My brother started using the “baby spoon trainer 2 in
1” he got on Amazon and it’s helping his baby self feed at only 12 months.
Check it out if you’re having trouble getting your babe to self feed!

to mix? This is not something ill ask to my doctor because here hk they are

looking nice

Tarla Dalal says:

yes you can give this soup to your baby, but ensure you have individually
given apples, carrots and potatoes to your baby first. The best thing when
introducing a new food to your baby at this age is to start with any one
new fruit or vegetable and give the same ingredient for a week. Do so with
all 3 ingredients and after 3 weeks, you can give this soup too.

no salt for baby below 1 year !!
