How to feed a g-tube baby

Thanks! Share it with your friends!

This is my first video. I think I might have made a mistake with mentioning her reflux. The diagnosis is severe reflux. I was not able to find a video like this when I looked for one, so I hope this helps someone. I am not a medical professional, so please consult with your child’s pediatrician or team for advise. No nasty comments please.

SUSAN THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY ABOUT HANNAH..I THINK IF YOU HELP
EVEN 1 PERSON TO ALLEVIATE FEARS OF FEEDING THEIR BABY, THEN THIS VIDEO WAS
SO WORTH IT..I HAVE 4 BOYS OF MY OWN AND WHILE I NEVER HAD COMPLICATIONS
WITH THEM…WELL THEY WERE ALL ALLERGIC TO MILK BASED FORMULA…BUT THAT IS
ABOUT IT..PRAYERS GOING OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY GOD DOES WORK MIRACLES
EVERY DAY.. WE JUST DON’T ALWAYS SEE THEM SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS..I AM ALMOST
BLIND IN ONE EYE SO ITS HARD FOR ME TO READ SMALL STUFF

I am getting ready to start working with a child that has a g button. This
has helped me immensely, thank you!! I’ve been a nurse for a few years but
I’ve never worked with a good button before, this has helped with some of
my concerns.. By the way Hannah is adorable!!

BirthGeek 8688 says:

I’ve had a lot of reflux struggles with my new baby (I’ve made a few
videos) and this way of feeding is our next step if he doesn’t improve
soon. Can I ask what Hannah’s biggest symptoms were? My boy has projectile
vomiting and severe fussing.

Sandra Gault says:

Thank you so much for sharing this video and your experience with little
Hannah. I am going to have to start feeding my child through a g-tube and
was very nervous about it until I saw your video. I really appreciate the
way you explained everything.

Thank you for this video. I work in childcare and have recently been
appointed a baby with a g-button. I am awaiting training from our district
nurse but this video has given me a very helpful insight into what I can
expect from feeding. Best of luck with Hannah, she is a beautiful baby x

God bless you ma’am and your family. I was praying to God for my dream job
since I graduated with my Associate degree in Child Development and to be
able to make a difference in children’s life. Well God answer my prayer. I
was bless with a job in school district in high school and in the life
skills department (young adult with special needs) and was giving the duty
to be the one on one teacher aide for this beautiful young lady age 18 that
has a Mickey tube and just responds by smiling and laughs but cant move at
all. I want to thank you for guiding me how to feed her the right way. Kind
of similar of what I was thought. Thank you again for making this video and
guiving me tips. God Bless you and your family.
Sincerely

AMEN!

Great job. We made it through the NICU without our son needing a g-tube
but understand the worry and emotion you go through with these procedures
with your preemie. Good job for making this video as a support and guide
to other g-tube Mamas.

Anna Welch says:

I’m a premature baby and I have a g-tube and I’ve had it for a long time

Nylla Gilliland says:

Thank you for posting this. My son is suppost to get a g-tube and we are
scared. It is hard because he also has cubbed feet, cleft palate(not
lip),hip dysplasia (in left hip and has a harness for that)and he has
kinest dyplasia(which basically everything ties into the Kinest Dyplasia. I
saved this to my favorites to watch over again if I need the reference. I
am not sure how hard this will be with a 2 1/2 year old running around.
Thanks again

anewday Regan says:

Yes, the Dr’s/nurses will let you know. We had a nurse come in weekly for
home visits, but her pediatrician was the one to monitor feedings along
with the feeding therapist recommendations. She had a good pd at the time
that would call and check up and answer questions over the phone. I use to
keep a note pad and document everything. It came in handy.

Brendakarina says:

Thank you! I’m bringing my baby home in about a week with a Gtube. I have
been really scared but your video made me feel more confident! And thank
you for mentioning about tummy time , I’m the same way I feel like it would
hurt her. Thank you again!

My Granddaughter will be coming home from the hospital with a Gtube. She
will be 5 months old when she comes home. She was born at 30 weeks and has
lung damage. Her breathing issues cause feeding issues. So as a
grandmonther i wanted to be able to help my daughter with Gracie when she
comes home. This video was very helpful. Especially how calm you are in
doing the feeding. You even mentioned tummy time and that was a concern for
me also. Thank you again… Blessings!

Patricia Brown says:

I have saved your video to my iPad to use for educational purposes. My home
infusion pharmacy services patients needing tube feedings. My parents and
caregivers will find this most reasuring.

hayleypiercesmummy09 says:

Beverly Hanset-Burch says:

I was wondering if she still has the tube, and if so, what does she eat
now?

pinkmama51 says:

Thankyou so much for posting this! My daughter is 4 months old and has had
an NG tube since birth. We are now considering the Gtube and I have been so
unsure and so afraid. This helps ease those fears a liitle.

charrmmee says:

God bless your beautiful family. you have much grace and courage. thnk u.

anewday Regan says:

I have been trying to give an update for many months now but You tube won’t
let me. I hope this one goes through. Hannah will be two on June 18. She
had been eating orally for about a yr at the time. We removed her button at
home and several months later she needed surgery to close the hole. It has
been a long road but would like to encourage everybody to be strong, learn
what you can and know that every child is different. Nobody knows your
child as well as you do. Blessings to all.

LuvMyBoys says:

How is she doing now? Is she eating by mouth?

nanamommy4life says:

Thank you for posting this

Sandy Cheeks says:

great video

anewday Regan says:

Sorry for the delay in responding. Hannah was about two weeks old. Going by
her corrected (due date), it was about 3 weeks before she was due.

iamk3ll says:

I should’ve listened to the entire video before I asked about the pump. ; )
My son has trouble gaining weight, so he always eats throughout the night
with the pump.

anewday Regan says:

Thank you all for the positive feedback. I plan on doing an update.
